Due to the high water expected on the IJsselmeer, the Noorderkwartier Water Board will carry out additional checks on dikes and structures. The water level is rising in several places in the country. As a result, measures are also being taken in our province, but the water board emphasizes that there is no reason to worry.
According to the water board, the inspectors who made their rounds this morning did not encounter any unusual circumstances. The dikes along the IJsselmeer are checked daily by inspectors.
The outside doors of the Sassluis in Enkhuizen were additionally locked yesterday morning. In addition, an emergency pump has been installed in the city’s inner harbor to drain extra water. “In this way we contribute to stabilizing the water level and try to prevent residents’ basements from flooding,” the water board reports.
Although water safety is not at risk, the additional measures are having an effect, according to the Noorderkwartier Water Board: the water level in the Enkhuizen inland port has been reduced by 10 centimeters.
