No hiding in the bush helped either…

Around 3 a.m. on Easter Monday, police officers saw a Mercedes on Fürstenwalder Damm (Treptow-Köpenick), the rear of which broke out when turning onto Dahlwitzer Landstrasse. They stopped him. A breath alcohol measurement in the 36-year-old showed 1.0 per thousand.

The man now pretended to get his ID and the vehicle documents from the car. Instead, he got into the Mercedes, started the engine and sped away in the direction of Schöneiche.

There, the officers who had taken up the pursuit initially lost sight of him. A short time later, however, they found the car on Ahornstrasse, open on the right-hand side of the road.

The crew of a police helicopter searched the vicinity of the site and was able to locate it with the help of a thermal imaging camera. He was hiding under a bush – arrest!

It turned out that the man was already wanted because of two arrest warrants that had been issued against him. He was taken into police custody. The man now has to answer on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and intoxicants as well as prohibited motor vehicle racing.
