FC Bayern suffered a bitter 1-0 defeat at Villarreal in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Accordingly, head coaches Julian Nagelsmann and Thomas Müller were self-critical afterwards.
The votes for the quarter-final first leg at “DAZN”:
Julian Nagelsman: “It was deserved that we lost. We weren’t good today, had very little power in defense in the first half, didn’t actually win the ball really well, and didn’t have any chances to score. In the second the game was totally wild, we gave up control a bit because we really wanted to score a goal. We could have gotten two more, but we didn’t have 100 percent. It wasn’t a good game from us.”
Thomas Müller: “We couldn’t really do that today. We didn’t play the game we wanted. We didn’t have the power offensively, we didn’t have the multitude of chances. We’ll take the 1-0 lead with us. And if things went badly, we would have we can go higher. We have to prepare for the second leg and fight back.”
