The Groningers only had something to fear from ZVH, the number ten in the premier league, in the first set. Lycurgus still had to gain steam and left the opponent alive for a long time. Until 18-17, the home team even had a lead, but that quickly disappeared like snow in the sun. When the important points arrived, coach Arjan Taaij’s men were more alert. Blocking well and smashing hard, Lycurgus won the first set 21-25.
