Weekend festivals have been in the headlines recently due to artist cancellations and organizational problems. Iltalehti visited the celebrated festival on Friday.

The arrangements failed again on the first day of the festival. Those who bought a VIP ticket Rose and Janaas well as a few other VIP customers interviewed by Iltalehti said they were disappointed with the treatment of VIP customers.

A VIP pass costs 195 euros for one day. A three-day VIP ticket costs 299 euros. According to the Weekend festival website, VIP tickets entitle you to benefits, which include, among other things, your own VIP food sale, a free bar and “your own spectacular VIP room with a good view of the festival area”.

However, there was no food for sale or available in the VIP facilities all day. The area was also built further from the stage than the area for priority tickets, even though priority tickets are cheaper than vip tickets. There was also no narikka for VIP customers at first.

– In the beginning, there was no narika at all in the area. And there was no food. We had to apply from outside here.

The two will stay at the Weekend Village campsite. According to them, it was very difficult to find the campsite, and there were no signs on the site to find the area. Even the organizers couldn’t tell the two the location. Roosa and Jaana also met other people staying at the campsite who were wandering around the area with the same problem.

– There were no instructions for accommodation. There are bad signs here.

The two were supposed to spend two days at the festival, but plan to skip the second day entirely. They are not sure if they will buy tickets for the Weekend festival again.

– We were supposed to stay for two days, but we came to the conclusion that we will send already tomorrow, Roosa says.

– The bad arrangements were quite a mood killer. Bess kind of saved the situation, Roosa continues.

Other festival-goers who bought a VIP ticket also told Iltalehte about the same shortcomings. Many were confused especially by the lack of food and ended up buying food in the public area.

The organizer will answer

Festival promoter Hardi Loog comment on the shortcomings noticed by visitors to Iltalehte.

Loog says that the Food stalls planned for the VIP area had to be canceled at the last minute.

– The entrepreneur is in covid, and then it has been canceled in the last meters, Loog says to Iltalehte.

Those who bought a vip ticket were not informed about this before the start of the festival.

– We haven’t been informed any more, and we didn’t see this as the end of the world, because the food world is completely stuck here.

According to Loog, food stalls are available next to the VIP area, 15 meters away.

He can’t answer the location of the VIP area or the weak signs. According to Loog, the VIP area can be found clearly and when you enter the area there is a big map in front of you.

According to Loog, the absence of the narika, on the other hand, was due to a misunderstanding with the subcontractor. The matter has now been fixed, and according to Loog, the ladder is in place in the VIP area.

To the question about the location of the vip area, Loog answers that there is the best view of the stage.

– You can really see Priority from the side to the stage. It is closer to the stage, but in practice you can see the stage at a 90 degree angle.

– Vip is in a direct line. You can easily drink there and watch the show.

The cancellation of Friday’s headliner Post Malone’s gig was announced last Sunday. Just hours before the start of the festival, it was reported that Jxmmi, one half of the duo Ra Sremmurd replacing Post Malone, will not be able to attend.
