The Mossos arrested the alleged perpetrators on Tuesday, who are between 20 and 27 years old, and reside in Terrassa
The Mossos d’Esquadra Five young people were arrested this Tuesday, April 11, for gang rape to one women of the same age in a field of Ruby (Valles Occidental). The events happened on December 26, 2022, four months ago. And the victim filed a complaint shortly after. The case, as happens every time it involves a group sexual assault, was taken on by the Unitat Central d’Agressions Sexuals (UCAS) of the Catalan police.
According to sources consulted by EL PERIÓDICO DE CATALUNYA, from the Prensa Ibérica group, the victim is a woman who suffers a disabilitya condition that aggravates the superiority with which the five authors acted, most of whom are being investigated for a crime of rape, which means that they sexually assaulted the victim with carnal access, that is, with penetration.
The investigation started thanks to the victim’s statement, which was able to put the UCAS agents on the trail of the suspects, who belong to the women’s environment. During these months, in addition, the policemen gathered more evidence that allowed them to prove what happened when they were arrested and handed over to the Rubí court, which, after interrogating them, ordered them to be remanded in custody, as reported by the Europa Press agency.
Among the indications that the Mossos have are whatsapp conversations and data provided by the victim herself –and by her phone— who helped identify those involved. According to the sources consulted, some of these conversations even imply that the authors were aware of the aggression carried out.
The suspects are of Moroccan nationality and have 20, 24, 26, 26 and 27 years. They all reside with their families in addresses of Terrassa. The judge maintains that there are “well-founded suspicions” that they committed a crime of sexual assault against the victim.
According to the preventive detention order, the girl was forcibly dragged to the facilities of an old industrial unit where the five men raped her. In the place, later, the investigators found cigarette butts and a used condom. Likewise, the victim’s story has been constant throughout the investigation and “is corroborated peripherally by various external and objective elements.” Among others, the judge recounts that one of the victim’s friends explained the state of anguish in which he found her after her rape.
