The victim of the accident that happened around half past four yesterday afternoon on the Weerdingerstraat in Emmen, is a 74-year-old woman from that place. That has been announced by the police.
The woman was riding a scooter and collided with a 25-year-old local who was riding a motorcycle. This happened near the exit to Meerstraat. The motorcyclist fell and was also injured, but according to the police, only the woman needed to be taken to hospital. The injuries of the two have not been released.
A Mobile Medical Team (MMT) with two ambulances and a trauma helicopter came to provide assistance. This usually happens in the event of serious accidents.
It is not yet clear how the accident could have happened. The police are investigating this.
