‘The VI viewer is so poorly educated’

Charles Groenhuijsen is completely fed up with the hate messages he receives after his statements about the education level of the Today Inside viewers. That’s why he’s coming up with evidence now.

It is the absolute nightmare of Op1 star Charles Groenhuijsen: join Today Inside. The people who watch that program are definitely not his kind of people. “I think we have more highly educated people, typically NPO-like viewers. You are of course in a different segment,” he told presenter Wilfred Genee.

Misplaced and elitist

‘Misplaced elitist thinking’, is the opinion of regular VI guest Job Knoester. “When VI was out for a while through ‘candle gate’, I was almost incessantly addressed in various ways by judges, public prosecutors, lawyers, psychologists and psychiatrists that VI had to return,” said the criminal lawyer.

The statements of Charles have, in his own words, generated a lot of hate messages. “To this day I see comments on social media like what an unbelievable idiot, motherfucker and bastard I am because I said that compared to SBS 6, we at Op1 have a slightly more educated audience. While that’s just how it is!” he shouted.

Charles comes with proof

To silence his critics, Charles now comes up with evidence. “For weeks I have been called an elitist chat major on social media because I said in an interview that more highly educated people look at NPO than at SBS, for example. KijkResearch has numbers.”

He shares a table entitled ‘Ask Charles Groenhuijsen’. It states that 34 percent of the NPO viewers consist of highly educated people and that of Talpa, which includes VI, for only 24 percent. Program level grades are not shared by the talk show host.

“Take back words!”

The reactions to Charles’ table have been mixed. “The figures differ too little to make a bold statement about it Charles. Would be nice to take back your words and just avoid this kind of unnecessary distraction from the real problems from now on,” says one Kenneth.

And Anton: “Keep going like this. I understand who has a problem with your statements. But that is no reason to do otherwise.”
