Jarmo Kekäläinen managed by the Columbus Blue Jackets took their opening win of the NHL round of the night. The Vancouver Canucks fell in overtime Vladislav Gavrikov with a 4–3 goal.

The loss was historic for the Canucks, who have led by more than one goal in each of their first four games. Still, the club still doesn’t have a single entry in the win column. No NHL club has done something similar before.

This time, the Canucks immediately took a 2–0 lead in the opening set, but Kekäläinen’s giant acquisition of the summer Johnny Gaudreau helped the Blue Jackets get out of the tie with 1+1 performances. The Yankee striker, who enjoyed 9.5 million seasonal earnings, tied the game halfway through the third period with an old-fashioned shot.

The Blue Jackets Patrick Laine was injured in the season opener and will be sidelined for 3-4 weeks with an elbow injury.

The San Jose Sharks also continued without a win. The New York Islanders handed the Sharks their fifth straight loss. Islanders Oliver Wahlström finished with two goals as the team won 5–2.

Scored twice in the last match Robin Salo recorded 14 minutes of ice time without power markings. Sharks Kaapo Kähkönen wasn’t on defense duty today.

The Buffalo Sabers defeated the Edmonton Oilers 4–2. Jesse Puljujärvi played 14 minutes in the second chain without power points. Raised from the farm Markus Niemeläinen played just under seven minutes as the seventh defender.

The match with the most goals was played in Ottawa. The home team roared to a 7–5 victory over the Boston Bruins. The Senators’ No. 1 offense Drake Batherson, Brady Tkachuk and Tim Stützle scored three points to a man. They serve as the Bruins’ scorers Patrice Bergeron and David Pastrnakwho also scored three points.
