The United States plans on Wednesday, April 6, to put forward the issue of Russia’s exclusion from the UN Human Rights Council, said Washington’s permanent representative to the organization Linda Thomas-Greenfield, reports NPR.

She expressed hope that the UN General Assembly will consider this issue on Thursday, April 7. As Thomas-Greenfield pointed out, Russia, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, should uphold higher standards and not take actions that “damage the international order and compromise the values ​​of the UN, compromise the Human Rights Council.”

“They have a narrative that what they do is normal. It is not normal. This is unacceptable and they will hear from the whole world that we will not continue to allow their disinformation, their propaganda to infiltrate the UN platform,” the permanent representative said.

She made her statements during a trip to Romania, where she visited centers for Ukrainian refugees. Prior to this, Thomas-Greenfield visited Moldova for the same purpose.
