The Urfa Lion jockeyed by Mehmet Kaya won the 97th Gazi Race!



The Gazi Race, which has been held in the name of the Great Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk for 97 years without interruption, was held at the Veliefendi Racecourse on a 2400 meter grass track with the participation of 22 purebred English colts aged 3 years.

The Gazi Race, which is the derby of Turkish equestrianism, was the scene of great excitement. The purebred ‘Lion of Urfa’, owned by Selim Kaya and jockeyed by Mehmet Kaya, won the race with a time of 2:30:35. In the 97th Gazi Race, Qualizto took the 2nd place and Chaika took the 3rd place, while the purebred Moonlight Fairy finished the race in the 4th place.


Meanwhile, jockey Mehmet Kaya won the Gazi Race for the first time in his career with the Lion of Urfa.
