The US government offered Ukraine loan guarantees for up to $1 billion, says in a statement by Secretary of State Anthony Blinken posted on the State Department website.

The funds will be used to support economic reforms in the country, which will “strengthen Ukraine’s ability to ensure economic stability, growth and prosperity for the people in the face of Russia’s destabilizing actions,” he said.

Blinken recalled that “in the face of Russian pressure” from 2014 to 2016, Washington provided Kiev with three loan guarantees in the amount of $1 billion, and since 2014, assistance in the amount of more than $2 billion.
