The tweets of the new Milei official that criticized the Government

Eduardo Serenellini, journalist who became known for having had a long career at Canal 26, owned by businessman Alberto Pierri, gained political relevance because he was appointed as the new media secretary replacing the outgoing Belén Stettler, who would have lacked experience to take charge of the official communication of a Government.

The new official forged his career by dint of his commercial production company, Serenellini Group, specialized in journalistic content that the journalist himself produced. Since 1996 he bought radio and television spots and was in charge of marketing. He has now moved to the other side of the counter and this would be the first time someone has hired him as an employee.

His last two jobs as a journalist were as host of the channel The Nation + on Saturdays and Sundays, and a program from Monday to Friday in Continental Radio called “Continental Pulse”. This shipment had a peculiarity that may explain its arrival at the Government. The Monday after the general elections, Javier Milei gave his first interview with this journalist and the Monday after the second round the libertarian also gave his first report to Serenellini in Continental, even before Eduardo Feinmann on Radio Miter. It didn’t have much significance because that radio is listened to much less than Mitre.

Serenellini maintained almost daily conversations with Milei, whom he considers a friend. But the day the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, announced the devaluation and adjustment measures, he wrote on the social network X: “They did not take retirees into account.” And the next day he added: “Those who are economically well off will continue to be better off, those who have nothing will continue to receive without working, but unfortunately the middle class has never been served, once again not listened to and the totally forgotten retirees”. A staunch defender of those most in need and of adverbs ending in “mind”.

Tweet Eduardo Serenellini

A few days after publishing these reviews, Serenellini deleted the tweets. And a few hours before taking over as Secretary of Media, he deleted his Instagram account altogether. Asked about this clear intention to erase the past, Serenellini responded to NOTICIAS without blushing: “I wrote calmly, nothing to hide.”

After his criticism, Serenellini, still as host of La Nación +, reviewed his position and stated: “Any of us cuts ourselves to different measures. One will cut the platform to watch movies, another will cut the car, say ‘I don’t use it anymore’, and another, and that is the one who is seriously ill, will say ‘there is no breakfast or there is no lunch’, obviously, one meal per day.” . Rounding out the idea, he concluded: “It’s like that, it’s a reality, we have to accept it, we don’t have to be ashamed. We all became poor in Argentina”.

Changes

The chapter of official communication is, perhaps, the one that is having the greatest problems in the Milei government. In less than a month of management, the Media Secretariat had changes in its leadership, there were conflicts with influencers officials and even the hiring of spokespersons for some ministers was delayed.

The Government landed with a meager communication equipment. At the head of the Media Secretariat was the aforementioned Belén Stettler, close to the presidential advisor Santiago Caputo, and as undersecretary they had summoned Eduardo Roust, a former official in Néstor Kirchner’s government who in the last ten years was dedicated to consulting in communication.

Roust lasted just over two weeks and ended up leaving and announcing his resignation on social media. The versions were contrasting. On the one hand, Roust alleged that he was denied informationan elementary input to work, and on the other, the Government stated that the resigned had committed some disloyalty, without giving details.

A journalist arrived to replace Roust, Javier Lanariknown to be a friend of the spokesperson Manuel Adorni and panelist for Viviana Canosa. A few weeks after her, Belén Stettler resigned, after a meeting in very harsh terms in the official Télam agency that would have prompted her to make that decision.

Today, Government communication is managed by journalists, with many years of experience, but with zero experience as communicators. Maybe, without knowing it, that is the problem.
