Cold weather accessories such as hats, gloves and scarves are an essential part of any winter assortment. The Fall/Winter22 catwalk shows have been full of inspiration for this important category, both for the upcoming season and for the winters to come.
The knitted hood
Joseph Altuzzara presented a collection that included knitwear with earthy tones and a touch of craftsmanship: a mermaid skirt paired with a sweater with flounces and ruffles; a knitted hood with pompoms completed the overall look.
At Gucci, Alessandro Michele created a similar head-to-toe ensemble: a look that consisted of a pointelle hood, top and matching pants and sweater set, all embellished with the Adidas logo and stripes
The big hat
Knitted hats are indispensable in winter, not only on the catwalks. Several labels showed lengthened versions this season. Mark Fast showed off a sporty ensemble topped by an extra tall blue beanie.
Daniela Gregis’ collection featured a look consisting of a brown chunky knit hat with matching mittens, complemented by a print dress and houndstooth jacket.
The medium-length colorful leather glove
Several labels showed colorful mid-length leather gloves. A deep blue pair by Alberta Ferretti stood out with topstitching and a wide faux fur trim adorning a blue velvet suit.
For Vivienne Westwood, Andreas Kronthaler presented purple leather gloves with a finger section that can be removed and wrapped around the wrist.
The extra long wool scarf
Antik Batik showed a look with a very long multi-stripe wool scarf combined with a hood.
Belgian brand Maison Ullens showed off an extra-long, structured scarf as an accessory for an all-white look.
Aran Knit Gloves
At Coperni, Arnaud Vaillant and Sébastien Meyer showed long white Aran knitted gloves with a hooded bodysuit, black over-the-knee socks and loafers with square toes.
The Sheepskin Gauntlet
Dion Lee showed off a belted and buckled tan leather gauntlet trimmed with sheepskin, matched with a corset and black leather cargo pants.
The oversized scarf
DSquared2 presented a knit scarf over a printed empire waist dress, paired with a tall hat, crochet bag and heather knit gloves.
At Gabriela Hearst, Saskia de Brauw wore a long fringed scarf in a peach knit that matched a similar sweater and skirt in the same color.
Thick knit tights and leggings
The plethora of miniskirts and shorts shown for the winter season fueled a resurgence in hosiery and leggings. Many fashion houses showed tights in a coarse knit. Chanel showed off red marbled rib-knit tights worn under a tweed suit and pointy-toe patent leather pumps.
For Diesel, Glenn Martens featured thick waffle knit leggings in a graphic pattern. He combined a tailored jacket made of orange and pink teddy fur and a wide belt.
