The Torhout city center was completed after 885 days

23 days earlier than planned, Torhout can announce the end of the works in their city centre. Despite the smooth progress of the works, it was a gigantic project. The works started on March 1, 2020 and therefore took three years. During those works, about two kilometers of new streets were laid. The market square was also taken care of and received 49 fountains.

350 colorful pigeons

The city center is further brightened up by 350 colorful ceramic pigeons, a copy from the pottery museum. The pigeons were painted by students from the fifth and sixth grade. Under the motto ‘welcome, come, come’, the pigeons want to lure everyone to Torhout.

At the beginning of September, Torhout organizes a large folk festival to celebrate the renewal of the city centre.
