A trail runner Emilia Brangefalt died November 13.

The Swede’s death shocked the country’s running circles, as he was considered one of the country’s most promising runners.

Brangefält finished fifth in the trail running World Championships this year and won the Swedish trail running championship with 40 kilometers a year ago.

He also immediately grabbed the World Championship bronze in the first adult competition of his career.

His brother Adam Brangefalt shared heartbreaking information on his personal Instagram account about his sister’s last days.

– On November 12, 2023, you reached out for psychiatric treatment so that maybe one day you could get better, return to sports and find happiness. But no one grabbed your hand.

– Instead, due to a lack of staff, you were discharged. You went home empty-handed with a mind full of anxiety, worries and difficult thoughts, he continued.

The Swedish Athletics Federation said at the time of Brangefält’s death that the young runner had been feeling physically and mentally unwell.

– On November 13, 2023, you decided to end your suffering and be freed from this world. Your life was far too short, and I never thought it would end like this, Brangefält’s brother said.
