The Top 2000 ballot box in Assen. Music quiz with Radio 2 DJs Wouter and Frank: ‘Cheaters must sing Bohemian Rhapsody’

The Top2000 ballot box visited the center of Assen on Friday evening to encourage the public to vote for the ‘list of lists’ of NPO Radio 2.

DJs Wouter van der Goes and Frank van ‘t Hof made radio from the bus on the way to Assen. The vehicle was parked in front of café Zusjes de Boer at the head of the Vaart. In the café, the DJs presented the well-known Top 2000 quiz, for which participants could register in advance.

‘Traffic park and TT circuit’

The men from NPO Radio 2 arrived in Assen about 45 minutes later than planned. “We have just come from Thialf in Heerenveen. We were with Barbara de Loor,” Van der Goes addressed the crowd at Zusjes de Boer. “You don’t just dismiss a world skating champion.”

The DJs appear to be not unknown in Assen. “Oh, The Couple Horses, I know that!” says Van der Goes before the pub quiz, while looking around the Market. “And the track of course!” Colleague Frank van ‘t Hof also knows the area. “We used to go on holiday to Borger and then go to the Traffic Park. Yes, that was a while ago, yes.”

Cheating is singing

Once in the café, the tone is quickly set. The DJs kick off with an important rule. “You are not allowed to look at your phone,” the DJs sternly address the participants. “There are people walking around checking. If they catch you, you have to sing Bohemian Rhapsody, from beginning to end. Flawless.” The pub patrons burst out laughing.

The Top 2000 bus will tour the country until December 8.
