Iltalehti reported on Friday that Tallink Silja has unilaterally canceled Jari Sillanpää’s appearance at the Iskelmäristeil next weekend.

Sillanpää wrote about the topic on his own Facebook account.

– Unfortunately, today we have received the information that my performance will be canceled on the cruise a week from now. Tallink Silja unilaterally cancels my cruise. The event organizer and the travel agency of Iskelmäriteilit are not behind the decision. My deepest apologies to those who bought the trip on my behalf, Sillanpää wrote.

In the comment fields, entertainment artist Ilkka “Ile” Vainio presented his own position on the topic. Vainio is also one of the performers of Iskelmäristeily.

– It would have been great if the artist Jari Sillanpää had participated in the Iskelmäristeily, that’s what I hoped with the organizer, but the shipping company has decided this way. Jari would have fit in really well, Vainio wrote in the comments.

Vainio tells Iltalehte that he is upset not only for the cruise people, but also for Sillanpää. He says that Sillanpää would have liked to perform on the cruise.

– Yes, I think he would have been a good performer on the ship. I’m not a judge, I think Jarihan has received his punishment. We thought he was performing, Vainio commented to Iltalehte.

– This arouses so much discussion and apparently the ship has been scared of all this, Vainio continues.

Apology

Vainio says that he has personally received messages from people about how they are unhappy that Sillanpää has not directly apologized for his actions. Sillanpää said in an interview with MTV in the fall that he doesn’t understand why he has to apologize. He feels that he only hurt himself, not others.

Vainio would see that Sillanpää’s apology really had a need and place.

– Many people really feel that they haven’t heard a clear apology from Jari. And yet it’s a mental thing that people feel better afterwards. Jari could clearly apologize and people would feel much better.

– However, Jari has served his sentence and he had a hell of a bad mood for a long time, for years. But many other people have also had a bad feeling about this and everything would be better if people came against each other and Jari apologized, Vainio continues.

Leo Stillman reacts

Musician Leo Stillman also reacted to Vainio’s comment in the Facebook comment field. Stillman teased Vainio in a low-key way when Vainio was upset about the cancellation of Sillanpää’s gigs.

– Apparently, the guy is in a pretty fucking mess! Stillman wrote to Vainio.

Skuuge is a slang word for forest.

Vainio does not particularly take a stand on Stillman’s words.

– Well, Leo has been dizzy for a long time, and I guess he’s not blameless either. Leo is a really good guy, but I was just hoping that Jari could perform, Vainio says.

Iskelmärteili told on its pages, that the shipping company has canceled Sillanpää’s performance because “the performance of the artist in question did not fit Tallink Silja’s values”. Artist Janna will perform at Sillanpää’s place.
