The Telegatto is back, in an eco-sustainable and multicolor version

P.o a few days ago, on April 1st, the magazine’s Instagram profile Tv Smiles and Songs had published a blurry image but with very familiar outlines: it was right the photograph of a Telegattohistoric award dedicated to the most important names in cinema, television and music of our home.

In the caption only two words, followed by three ellipses: “I’m coming…“. Many had thought of an April fool, given the day of publication of the image. But today, Monday 11 April, confirmation has arrived: the new Telegatti are already among us. Although with a restyling which has already generated thousands of comments on the web. And with a different delivery method than in the past (which, apparently, does not involve readers).

The eco-sustainable Telegatto: bye bye glamor

This new edition of the award – after 14 years of absence – however, it does not include a Grand Gala and nominations. The awards will in fact be delivered by the magazine (which celebrates its 70th birthday) at various times throughout the year to personalities from music, cinema, television and sports. Moments then recounted on social media and in the print edition of the magazine.

The first name that received this new statuette is Vasco Rossiprotagonist of the cover of the issue on newsstands from tomorrow, and ready for a (highly anticipated) tour in the stadiums.

But the real revolution of the prize lies in the look of the mythical catpassed from statuette bronze plated with pure gold on object eco friendly (made with recycled materials and regenerated plastic) and colorful: blue, yellow and fuchsia. A version greeted with disappointment and horror, far from past glory and closer to playful, inexpensive design.

Sure, the Telegatto has always been a semi-serious prize, but at least once there was the deception of the precious surface. However, Mother nature approves, and so does Greta Thunberg. At this point all that remains is to see if the other awards will give up their grand evening dress, if a trend starts.

The history of the awards

The International Grand Prix of Entertainment (known as Telegatto) was a competition created by Tv Smiles and Songs in 1971. The prizes were given by the readers of the magazine by voting.

There Television broadcast (live or delayed) began in 1984 on the Mediaset networks e ended in 2008. The golden age, with glitz of international media and guests – including Michael Jackson, Robert De Niro, Sharon Stone And Cher – was reached between the 1980s and 1990s. Then a progressive lack of interest, parallel to the decline in prestige.

The editor of the magazine Aldo Vitali had promised the return ofItalian television Oscarana as early as 2018, but the new design and assignment rules were only announced today.
