Matsson’s new album TOO LATE FOR EDELWEISS, a covers album that now includes his version of Hank Williams’ “Lost Highway”, will be released on Friday, September 23rd:

TOO LATE FOR EDELWEISS brings together home recordings made by Matsson in Sweden and North Carolina after a 39-day tour. He said beforehand: “In the last year I’ve spent a lot of time touring, but also writing and recording an album that I’m very proud of and that will eventually see the light of day. But in the few hours between trips and sessions, mostly at my home in Sweden and an AirBnb in North Carolina, I recorded a few covers here and there. Often as a reset button for my own songwriting, to cleanse the palate of my mental whirlpool while writing songs.”

In July 2022, Matsson already released a cover version of Swedish superstar Håkan Hellström entitled “För sent för Edelweiss”. This was followed by recordings of Lucinda Williams’ “Metal Firecracker”, Yo La Tengo’s “Tears Are In Your Eyes” and now “Lost Highway”. “When I was a teenager I checked out a Hank Williams album from the local library and ‘Lost Highway’ has stuck with me ever since. I’ve heard Hank’s advice at many vocal soundchecks throughout my career,” says Matsson.

As the Tallest Man On Earth, Matsson has released four EPs and five studio albums, most recently I LOVE YOU. IT’S A FEVERDREAM in 2019.
