The Swede overcooked in the World Cup – “He asked if I wanted to fight”

William Poromaa and Mattis Stenshagen do not mince their words on the track.

Norwegian national team skier Mattis Stenshagen gave an interview to VG, where he talks about his duels in Sweden William Poromaan with.

– It is largely by chance, but we have become competitors on the track. We feel like we end up close to each other in the mass starts, Stenshagen explains.

– We jumped on each other’s skis and the words flowed.

In Oberhof’s competition, there was a real spark between the two.

– He stepped on my skis and I pushed him away. Then he asked if I wanted to fight. I had so much adrenaline that I said let’s figure this out in the goal area, Stenshagen reveals.

However, the men had time to calm down before the end of the competition.

– There was no showdown at the goal. We believe that let’s take it easy and leave the fight alone, Poromaa tells Aftonbladet.

According to the Swede, the tension between the men from the neighboring countries is caused by verbalism, which boils down outside the competitions.

– Of course, sometimes the situation heats up. We are both sharp mouthed. That might mean a lot. But we don’t show a sour face to each other, says Poromaa.

The Skiing World Cup will be held this weekend in Canmore, Canada. On Saturday evening, the men’s and women’s sprints are on the program.
