The suspect of multi-million dollar fraud who was arrested at Groningen Airport Eelde on Monday is a 45-year-old woman from Rijssen in Overijssel.
The woman was about to travel to Gran Canaria on Monday when she was spotted at Groningen Airport Eelde. This happened during a passport control.
In addition to the 45-year-old woman, a second suspect has been arrested in the fraud case. It concerns a 29-year-old woman from Enschede. She was not arrested at Groningen Airport Eelde, the Public Prosecution Service says.
Both suspects have now been released. They may be extradited to Germany at a later date. According to the Public Prosecution Service, a hearing must be held within sixty to ninety days at the court in Amsterdam, which is responsible for extradition requests.
