The survey’s harsh result: Only 10 clothing companies out of 182 passed the climate screening

The most effective would be to reduce the amount of clothes bought new. Even the climate goals of clothing brands and retail chains that strive for responsibility are not sufficient, says Finnwatch, which evaluates the global effects of business operations. In the association’s recent survey, only ten companies had an emission reduction target set according to the one and a half degree target, and the target included a comprehensive reduction of emissions in the entire value chain. The review included 182 companies that had set some kind of emission reduction goals. Among the Finnish companies involved were SOK, Tammer Brands and Tokmanni, but also Swedish H&M and German Adidas, familiar to Finns.
