The surprising success of the race tracks has also amazed his coach

The top of the Finnish horse riders has been blowing in a surprising direction this spring, when 13-year-old Veeran Son has recovered. The stallion has already won two major races since the beginning of the season, both as a tough surprise.

Veeran Son has rewarded him princely this year in toto games.

The earnings of the 13-year-old stallion are already almost 40,000 euros.

Coach Jussi Suominen thinks Veeran Son has now given himself up more in competitions.

Breakthroughs at the tier one level are rarely seen anymore, with horses already in their second ten years of age. The 13-year-old Finnish horse horse Veeran Poika is an exception to this rule, as the stallion has already clearly ran the best season of his career this year.

Veeran Poja’s 11 starts in the year have generated a profit of 39,200 euros, which exceeds the earnings of the best period of his career so far by almost 15,000 euros. So far, Veeran Son’s best season was last year, when he earned 24,450 euros. Throughout her career, Veeran Son has now earned less than 150,000 euros.

The most significant thing in Veeran Poja’s early season has been that the stallion has already won two open level title competitions. In March, Veera Son was ranked number one in Joensuu’s traditional cold blood stroke, and last Sunday it won the traditional Erko Trophy in Vermo.

The winnings have been worth € 12,000 and € 15,000, and have put Veeran Son at the forefront of cold blood. For the players, Veeran Poja’s victories have come as a shock, as in Joensuu its winning odds were 33.5, and in Erko’s Trophy as high as 47.4.

– True, the victories have been a surprise for me too. The starts are insanely hard, coach Jussi Suominen emphasizes.

– In the past, Veeran Poika has been a bit of a follower who hasn’t given up at the start. Frankly, it seems to have spring in its bales now. It has worked even better at the start and really blew after the start.

Suominen’s mention of the type of follower is understandable, because before his early season victories, Veeran Poika had last won in November 2020. Last year’s 24 starts yielded four second and four third places, but the stallion did not win.

– Before Joensuu’s victory, the horse felt so good in training that I thought it would win somewhere, but not in competitions of this level. The running costs have also gone a long way in winning, but the horse has also been really good.

Through many bends

The owner of Veeran Poja is Hyper Stable from Kyröskoski, and the stallion has had many different coaches during his life. Suominen’s Son came to Suominen in the late summer of 2020, and before that he had had time to train Terho Rautiainen, Terno Palmroth, Bella Varjonen, Raineri Puikkonen, Mikael Palmroth, Mikko Aro, Kari Lehtonen and Leonard Palmroth.

Veeran Poika ran his first starts in 2012 when he was three years old. Its eleventh race season is now underway.

– Veera’s Son came to us directly from the start, and there have been no miracles with it. It has been racing steadily almost all the time and it has seemed to suit it well. In the winter, it was also trained during the start-up, and maybe that too can be seen in the performances, Jussi Suominen thinks.

With his great victories, Veeran Poika has also become a serious aspirant for victory when it comes to next summer’s royal race. Veeran Poika was already in the race last year, when the sixth place in the overall competition was in the upper corner compared to the expectations.

– If the condition stays that way, then of course the royal sprint is aimed at, Jussi Suominen says.

– The three-start race seemed very suitable for it. Many horses go dizzy from the hunk weekend, but Veeran Son was really supple on the Monday after the Royal Races, and he could have raced even the following Wednesday.

The tip of Finnish horses is interesting. Seven-year-old Parvela Reto is expected to be the ruler of the season, but in Erko’s Trophy it was surprisingly sixth in the lead. Jussi Suominen will not draw too many conclusions from a single start.

– I don’t know if Reto had the best day, because if it’s at its best, it’s bad for anyone. However, these old villains have such a tough routine, and in many cases it helps with hard departures.
