Liverpool star Luis Diaz had some serious things to say as he salvaged a 1-1 draw for his side against Premier League side Luton.

Diaz tied the match in the fifth minute of overtime and then revealed to the TV cameras the message he had written on his undershirt.

– Freedom for my father, the shirt read.

Diaz’s parents were both kidnapped a week ago in Colombia. Armed motorcyclists stopped their car and took it over.

When the police tracked down the car, the attacking star’s mother was released, but the father Luis Manuel Diaz is still kidnapped.

The kidnapping was carried out by the leftist National Liberation Army ELN. It is one of the oldest guerrilla movements in Colombia.

On Friday, a Colombian newspaper El Colombiano published a press release distributed by ELN, in which the guerilla organization announced that it wanted to release its hostages. ELN said that it did not know that it was the father of a famous football player.

With the draw, Liverpool is now third in the Premier League. Luton hovers above the relegation line in 17th place.

In the second match of the evening in the Premier League, Nottingham Forest beat Aston Villa 2–0.
