The Bö family from Norway has long been one of the most successful and well-known in biathlon: Johannes Thingnes and his brother Tarjei, who is five years his senior, have already celebrated numerous successes in the winter sports discipline. Now there is private news from Bö.
Tarjei Bö and his fiancée Gita Simonsen are expecting a baby. The 33-year-old ski hunter announced this on Instagram.
“We’ll be parents in the fall. That’s wonderful,” Bö wrote about a picture that shows his partner and baby bump.
Bö and Simonsen have been a couple for several years and both announced their engagement last August.
The Norwegian biathlete is a three-time Olympic champion, and at the last Beijing Games he won two gold medals (relay and mixed relay), one silver in the pursuit and one bronze in the sprint. He had already won gold in the relay in Vancouver in 2010 and silver in Pyeongchang in 2018.
In total, he was able to hang a total of 21 World Championship medals around his neck in his very successful career. In the overall World Cup of the 2021/22 season, he finished sixth with 601 points.
Tarjei’s brother Johannes Thingnes, married to Hedda Klövstad Daehli since 2018, is already the father of son Gustav, who was born in 2020.
The 28-year-old Johannes Thingnes Bö has been one of the absolute dominators in biathlon in recent years. He came back from China with five medals in his luggage, four times he won gold. Due to the heavy workload of the past World Cup winter, the Norwegian ended his season prematurely at the end of February. He needed some time off to prepare for the months of training ahead.
Bö recently reported back via Instagram. With his son Gustav on his shoulders, the winter sports star looked at a holiday resort on Gran Canaria. “The batteries are charged. I’m ready for the first training sessions for the new season,” he wrote next to the picture.
