The 45th minute had just been completed when Leverkusen got the ball into the goal. By Florian Wirtz however, the finish was rejected, as the situation was preceded by offside.
Xabi Alonso coached by Leverkusen continued to dominate in the second period. It produced the reward in the 79th minute.
Odilon Kossonou saw the space and carried the ball close to the Dortmund box. The breaking pass went off To Patrick Schickwho still served To Victor Boniface. The Nigerian striker completed his eighth complete hit of the season.
In the very last moments, Schick got the top spot, but the header of the Czech, who played broken seasons, failed, and the ball flew over the goal from close range.
