S.filming of History, TV series based on the novel of the same name Elsa Morante directed by Francesca Archibugi.
Born from a co-production between Picomedia and the French company Thalie Images in collaboration with Rai Fictionthe new series is played by Jasmine Trinca in the role of the protagonist Ida Ramundo, together with Valerio Mastandrea, Elio Germano, Asia Argento, Lorenzo Zurzolo And Francesco Zenga.
The story: post-war Italy
The plot in brief. Rome, 1941. In a city devastated by war the young woman widow from Jewish origin Ida Ramundo, Nino’s motherhe comes raped from a drunk German soldier during the occupation. Shortly thereafter she finds out she is pregnant and gives birth a child, Useppe. Meanwhile, the war upsets the whole family: Nino enlisted in the black shirts leaving for Northern Italy, while in 1943 a bombing destroyed Ida’s house, which was forced to repair in a shelter for displaced persons. The end of the conflict will not resolve the situation of the protagonist, who suffers from a mysterious evil of which for now we do not give advances.

A precedent on TV and in the cinema
It is not the first time that History is brought to the screen. A first attempt was made by Luigi Comenciniwith a movie in three parts shot for the television and aired between 6 and 20 November 1986, distributed in an abridged version on the cinema circuit. Despite the presence of Claudia Cardinale in the role of Ida Ramundo, the film had a ‘hospitality rather lukewarm by critics. According to a review that appeared in the French magazine The saison cinématographique“adapting Elsa Morante’s novel was a gamble. Comencini tried in vain. “
Excluding the criticisms from beyond the Alps, it is certainly not easy to make a story so rich and nuanced on the screen, in which despair, solidarityviolence and physical / mental illness alternate in a complex fresco in which the daily is strongly intertwined withexistential, between Roman neighborhoods gutted by bombing and the secret paths of the partisan brigades.

The series will be shot between Rome, Lazio and Naples for a total of 22 weeks of work.
The script is the work of Giulia Calenda, Ilaria Macchia, Francesco Piccolo And Francesca Archibugi. Luca Bigazzi sign the photograph, Ludovica Ferrario the scenography, while the costumes are taken care of by Catherine Buyse And Valentina Monticelli.
International sales of the series are handled by Beta Film.
