The Stone Roses: fashion collection with Manchester United and Adidas

The first insights into the fashion line show the homage to the debut THE STONE ROSES from 1989.

The Stone Roses and Manchester United football club are releasing a fashion collection together. The clothing is to be created in collaboration with the sports manufacturer Adidas.

“Madchester” to wear

The fashion line is intended to pay homage to the “Madchester” era of the English city from which both the band and the club come. This late 80s music movement emerged from Manchester and combined the indie scene with psychedelia and electronic dance music. The rock band The Stone Roses was one of the most famous representatives of this movement.

What we’ve seen from the collaboration so far is very much based on the band’s 1989 debut album, which bears the same title.

There is the abstract green artwork that guitarist John Squire created based on Jackson Pollock on a jersey and a hat. The three stripes that Adidas is known for are red, white and blue – also like on the album cover. Additionally, a scarf pays tribute to the lemon halves and the song “This Is The One.” One jacket is even reversible, so when turned inside out it has a different pattern – in this case a simple black.

Manchester United shared the first glimpses of the collection on social media, and you can see more on the website.
