Having played in the Czech league for Liberec Ondřej Vitás too professional career ended unexpectedly in the middle of the 2022–2023 season. At that time, the man was only 31 years old.
The gentleman who enjoyed himself on the defender’s lot played his last match on October 28, 2022 against Kladno. After the match, he received a call from the anti-doping authorities.
– I understood that I had to go to the place to give an explanation, Vitásek recalls Bleskin an interview with the magazine.
The actual skirmish had already taken place on October 16, 2022, in an away game against Pardubice. After the match, the testers marched into the locker room and selected Vitásek for the random test.
When the konkaripak’s name was called, he immediately panicked.
– Oh hell, I thought, because I knew what I had done earlier in the week, Vitásek says On the Bez Frazi website.
He had been partying and using cocaine.
– I tried to calm myself down and thought that it’s already been four days.
The substance was still visible in the doping test, and Vitásek was banned from competition for four years.
The club management of Liberec was not very satisfied.
– They told me: “Return the dressing room access card and don’t come back again.”
Vitásek got to say goodbye to his teammates, who were already aware of what had happened.
– That was the day I quit hockey.
Vitásek was a national team-level defender who represented the Czech Republic in, among other things, two World Cups (2014 and 2021) and the 2018 Olympics.
The defending defender won two Czech championships in his career. There were 48 international matches.
