The spearman, who has been operated on seven times, has a high pain threshold

Toni Kuusela says she is in a terrible shock.

When Toni Kuusela throw a spear, it’s surprising if a man doesn’t have a broken part somewhere.

– The last time I was thrown didn’t happen when I was playing baseball, 28-year-old Kuusela smiles.

In recent years, in many competitions, the native of Ostrobothnia has had a brace on her knee and taping on a different side of her body.

– Seven times during my career, a place has been taken open with a knife.

The pain threshold of a linen head is severe.

– It’s not at the level of a mosquito. I can tolerate pain on some level. I think of it as sometimes belonging to elite sports. I don’t want to show that it hurts that much.

During the European Championships in Munich, Kuusela announces that he is intact.

– From the beginning of the season, it hurt everywhere. Now it has halved. Did I put the tape tighter or what is the cause, he grins.

– The supporting leg has been amazingly good. A week or two before the Kaleva Games, it started to feel really good, the man continues.

At the Kaleva Games in Joensuu the other weekend, Kuortanene Kunno’s athlete nailed the second longest slice of his career with 84.01 and claimed the European Championship ticket.

– I believe that my life is in order. I’m in a much better mood than in a while. I got one good throw in Joensuu. It was a pretty casual romp. Oddly enough, success also changes the skiing situation.

Joensuu had good winds for the javelin throw. Likewise last season in Orimattila, when Pohjalainen beat his record of 85.03.

84–85 meters will probably be the measure of the medal throw in Sunday’s EC final.

– Whether it’s against the wind or it’s favorable, I can throw further than what people believe. Let’s continue with Friday’s qualifying competition and focus on Sunday’s final.
