1. Who are The Smile?
The Pandemic Project by Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood. Motto: We have to have something to do, it has to be uncomplicated and lead to quick results. Therefore The Smile: are not Radiohead.
2. Who is the third man?
Tom Skinner, drummer in the Sons Of Kemet, London band leader and saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings’ fabulous neo-jazz band. A smart move, because with the help of Skinner, The Smile docked in the lively avant-garde jazz scene of the metropolis.
3. What’s up so far from The Smile?
On January 5, 2022, the first single “You Will Never Work In Television Again” was released via XL Recordings HONEY time would have believed. The second single, “The Smoke”, followed on January 27th, which is more reminiscent of the music loops of the KING OF LIMBS phase and has a great bass line played by Thom Yorke.

The Smile were giving away tickets for three gigs in London, which could be experienced live via streaming. The band played the London concerts at 8pm on Saturday, 1am on Sunday morning and 11am on Sunday morning to accommodate the different time zones.
5. How do The Smile appear on stage?
The stage in Event Space Magazine right next to the Millennium Dome is round and has no center, which shows that this trio would prefer to show themselves without hierarchies. Of course, that doesn’t work when Thom Yorke sings, because then he draws attention to himself. Of course, especially with lines like “Don’t bore us, get to the chorus”. But there are also moments when the flow of things means that you don’t really know what’s at the heart of this music, Greenwood’s guitar, Skinner’s whirling drums or what Thom Yorke is doing (bass , guitar, keyboard). In these moments, The Smile seem like a very good prog rock band. No more, no less.
6. What does Thom Yorke look like?
Like a mixture of Helge Schneider, Axel Prahl and Matt Berninger.
7. Do The Smile play Radiohead songs?
no It features “Skirting On The Surface,” a song performed live by Radiohead in 2012, but is considered more of a Yorke solo song, as is “Open The Floodgates” played at the gigs. So don’t expect The Smile to perform Radiohead hits.

9. Do The Smile have hits?
How you take it. A song like “Thin Thing” is hailed by Can fans, “Speech Bubble” is a feast for analog synth fans, “Free In The Knowledge” is the highlight for people who think “Comfortably Numb” is the best song of all time . However, this piece in particular shows that The Smile do not aim exclusively at neo-prog arrangements, but also show the will to beauty. However, these moments are comparatively rare – the three are mainly concerned with getting lost in the sound, playing imperfect songs.
10. How was it now?
If the gig were part of Star Wars he would get * * * * in front of the screen plus appreciated a potential extra star for watching the concert live. That will hopefully be the case soon, Omikron wants, and it will definitely be interesting.
