Pelicans star defender Michal Jordan has received a three-match ban from the SM league’s disciplinary delegation. SM league announced the matter on Saturday evening.
Jordán received a major penalty and a game penalty in Friday’s match against Sport when he tackled Sport Johan Sundström near the blue line to the head or neck area.
In its decision, the disciplinary delegation considered that Jordán’s Tackle goes from the side to the front of Sundström’s body, but the Pelicans player’s shoulder hits the Swede’s head.
According to the delegation, Sundström will not make a surprising move or change his playing position in the situation.
– Despite this, Jordán’s Tackle is only aimed at the opponent’s head, the decision says.
The delegation considered that the main contact resulting from the tackle could have been avoided with better direction and timing. According to the delegation, the main contact is strong.
Sport won the meeting between the teams with a score of 4–2.
Jordán was already sidelined for Saturday’s HIFK match due to a temporary suspension, so the Czech defender will be sidelined for the next two matches.
