In the season finale, the musician plays an elf on the one hand and her flute “Sasha” together with Lisa devotedly on the other.
Lizzo will appear in the season 34 finale of The Simpsons, which airs May 21 in the US. The 35-year-old previously shared a scene from the episode on her Instagram channel. In the clip, Bart Simpson creates a drum beat by punching his father Homer a lot in the face. Lizzo and Lisa Simpson then decide to get out their instruments – the Detroit native her flute “Sasha” and Lisa her saxophone – and improvise a bit together. The result is a version of the Simpsons theme song. It is not yet known when the German audience will be able to admire the episode.
“Every icon has been on The Simpsons and now I can add my name to the list! Thanks to the whole team who made this dream come true. (Yes, I wear YITTY [Lizzos Shapewear-Marke] and play Sasha Flute)” she captioned her post on social media.
The flute has now achieved cult status among Lizzo fans and even has an Instagram account. There “Sasha” also shared the scene with the caption “I AM OFFICIALLY THE MOST FAMOUS FLUTE IN THE WORLD”.
Lizzo shared the Simpsons news too early
Previously, Melissa Jefferson, as the singer’s real name is, also made a post by writing that she was “on the Simpsons today”. The Grammy winner later released a clarification: The episode with her doesn’t come until next week, which is May 21st. “ACT LIKE YOU DIDN’T SEE THE CLIP UNTIL MAY 21,” she wrote.
The 22nd and final episode of The Simpsons season 34, titled Homer’s Adventure Through the Windshield Glass, was teased back in February this year. Producer and writer Tim Long revealed in an interview with “Entertainment Weekly”that in the episode Lizzo often “bitch says and doesn’t get along very well with Homer.” She will also take on two roles in the episode: one as an elf who would accompany Homer and the other playing herself in a kind of behind-the-scenes number. The episode will also feature a new song, “It was Marge, bitch,” written by Flight of the Conchords’ Tim Long and Bret McKenzie.
Lizzo has made several cameo appearances, including on Sesame Street and The Mandalorian.
