Berliners can do a lot with little: on Monday morning, the city was transformed into a white, snowy winter wonderland.
The children, who were finally able to bring their sleds onto the slopes, were particularly happy about the icing sugar snow.
The morning started for the motorists with warm-up activities by scraping the windshields free of ice. Several accidents occurred on the icy roads. Between 8 a.m. and 9.15 a.m., the police counted 71 accidents, by 10 a.m. only 61 (usually around 60 car accidents per hour).
In the early hours of the morning, there were only isolated reports of icy terminal stops in bus traffic. Blocking was not necessary.
Overall, traffic on the roads was a little slower than usual, but there were no major delays due to snow. The F12 ferry line (Müggelbergallee-Wassersportallee) has been discontinued since the start of operations due to ice conditions.
“Tobogganing good” was the motto on many little hills throughout the city. The little bit of snow extended the holiday feeling for the students.
