The sequels of Avatar are moved by years, a new Star Wars movie is coming – This is what Disney’s Release Calendar looks like

James Cameron’s new Avatar: The Way of Water moved on by years, but it nevertheless became one of the most successful films of all time. The film is the third highest grossing film of all time.

At least three more sequels are coming, but their releases are also taking longer. Avatar 3 released only a year later than planned, currently the world premiere is in December 2025.

Instead, the fourth and fifth parts have a longer delay: Avatar 4’s was supposed to premiere in 2026, but now the premiere has been postponed to December 2029. Avatar 5 see you in December 2031 instead.

Star Wars

Disney also revealed its other plans. The delay of Avatars is due to the Star Wars movie, about which there is no more detailed information yet. It will premiere in December 2026, when Avatar 4 was to be published.

Loads of Marvel

Because Disney owns so many different franchises, one company decision affects another. There are also influences on the Marvel universe. Captain America: Brave New World moved by a couple of months to July 2024, Thunderbolts moves from that place to December of the same year.
