The selectivity of the 2023-24 academic year will not include the new maturity test

  • The autonomies and the ministry agree to delay the full implementation of the future university entrance exam model until 2017-28

The maturity test -the great novelty included in the future selectivity- is delayed. It was planned that this part of the university entrance exam would come into force in the academic year 2023-24. Will it do it a year later, in 2024-25? sources of Ministry of Education recognize that still there is no set date. These same sources clarify that in the 2023-24 academic year there will be an exam “similar, but not identical & rdquor; to what has been done now. When it comes into force, the maturity test will count 60% (instead of the 75% that was considered months ago) for the note. The remaining 40% will come from exams.

Several general directors of the autonomous communities and high education officials have met in Madrid this morning to analyze future selectivity. All the autonomies, with the exception of and Castilla y León and Madrid -which continues to be committed to approving a single Evau throughout Spain, something that is not on the table- have shown themselves in favor of delaying the new selectivity model, imposed after the Education Act came into force, Lomloe. It will be a more competitive and creative model and less memorizing, in accordance with the mandate of the standard, which has come into force this year in odd-numbered courses (next year it will do so in even-numbered ones).

The transformation of selectivity -a test that, until now, has had very high pass rates in Spain- will be progressive. That is to say, not all the changes will occur suddenly in the first call. The objective is to win in competitions, with questions that appeal to the critical rationing of the applicants, who will have to spend a lot of time to answer them. The changes are given by the new baccalaureate, imposed by the current educational law (Lomloe, known as ‘Celaá law’, by the last name of the former minister).

In theory, the new selectivity should be implemented at 100% in the 26-27 academic year. However, with the decision taken today (there have been no votes cast, but there have been verbal ones), will be delayed to 27-28. In any case, the decision will be definitively ratified on next December 13when the Minister of Education, Pilar Alegría, meets with the directors of the branch.

Sources from the ministry directed by Alegría are satisfied with the delay in the new modality of the university entrance exam. “We have more time for the Lomole and its competency model to be more used in the classroom. In addition, that time is also positive to broaden the consensus in the educational community & rdquor ;.

These same sources assure that the CSIF union is not right in criticizing the future selectivity model. A representative of the center assured this week that the new exam will be similar to the tests to get a driver’s license. From the ministry they assure that the model test it was included in a draft, which has since been discarded. “Every few days we hold meetings and we reach new agreements. They cannot criticize something that is simply a draft or an idea and not anything firm,” they say.
