It was the dramatic moment on Tuesday when searching for Father’s Day missing Pascal K. (21) and Leon B. (21) on Lake Wentow: the search dogs barked!

The two Belgian shepherds “Dex” and “Sam”, who were being driven across the surface of the lake in small boats, kept barking.

“The animals could hardly be kept,” said police spokeswoman Dörte Röhrs to the BZ “They took the scent.”

Moments between hope and fear that the men will finally be found. Police divers were quickly lowered into the water at the point about 150 meters from the concrete jetty at the bulwark. Their mission: to search in the murky water for the two young men who have been missing since Friday morning at 3 a.m.

“The dogs can smell people,” said the spokeswoman. But after 20 minutes the disillusionment: The divers could not find the two in the murky water with a very shallow depth of view.

It’s day five since Leon B., a trainee real estate agent, and Pascal K., a student of radiation technology, disappeared without a trace at Wentowsee. The two had set off on a men’s day tour with eight friends 12 hours earlier.

Leon’s mother found his jacket and shoes on the jetty around 8 a.m. Friday morning. First, the parents of the two, as well as relatives and friends, went looking for them themselves. But no trace.

In the meantime, the hope of finding the two men alive is fading more and more.

So far there is no explanation as to why no clothing belonging to Pascal K. was found. According to his father, the young man was dressed in a light linen shirt, light linen trousers and Nike sneakers.

Was it an accident? Did Pascal fall into the water and Leon jumped after him to save him?

The police spokeswoman: “That would be speculation, we do not comment on that.”

The search is expected to continue on Wednesday. Again, the search dogs of the police from Saxony-Anhalt are to be driven over the Wentowsee.
