The coach, accused of assaulting the referee, has been separated from his work at the club
From the entity, they affirm that the facts will continue to be investigated with those involved
The women’s cadet match between FC Sant Quirze and CE Premià de Dalt last Sunday ended with an incident between the local coach and the match official, who he allegedly attacked after seeing a yellow card.
According to ‘El Periódico’, the witnesses affirm that the coach confronted the referee of the match, after she sanctioned him with the second yellow, and therefore, with the expulsion, shortly after the start of the second half. According to the newspaper, Domingo Angulo, the Sant Quirze coach, approached the referee with a raised fist and ended up hitting her hand. The referee chose to suspend the game and left in tears on her way to the medical center. After filing the corresponding complaint, the matter is already in the hands of the Catalan Football Federation.
After breaking the news to the media, the club has decided to take action on the matter and has published the following statement after the emergency meeting of the Board of Directors:
“From FC Sant Quirze we condemn all verbal and physical violence. We regret the events that occurred because in no way do they represent the values of the club and its coaches, players and family members.
We also ask that the presumption of innocence be respected at all times.
The female Cadet coach has been relegated from his duties at the club
The Board of Directors has met with players, fathers and mothers of the team involved in the incident to hear their version and they emphasize that it differs greatly from what is reflected in the arbitration record and the press article.”
At the club they do not take the matter for granted and affirm that “We will continue working to clarify the facts in defense of the interests of the club and the person involved“.
