A Gary Moore box set will be released on June 23: “The Sanctuary Years” contains the four albums “A Different Beat”, “Back To The Blues”, “Scars” and “Power Of The Blues” from Moore’s time on the Sanctuary label, which also had Black Sabbath, Elton John and Kiss under contract.
All CDs in the box set include new liner notes by Dave Everley. The Blu-ray box set also contains a mix of the album “Back To The Blues” and selected interviews. Also included is fan merch.

“A Different Beat”: Album 1
A Different Beat was Gary Moore’s 12th solo album. Moore then changed his sound by combining his signature guitar playing with contemporary beats on a few songs. The long player, released in 1999, contains the bonus track “Can’t Help Myself (EZ Rollers Remix)” and the hidden track “Surrender” (edit).

“Scars”: Album 3
On the 2002 long player Scars, Gary Moore wanted to capture the spirit of the bands he grew up with. “Scars was about going back to a kind of ’60s style,” Moore explained in 2003. “There was something about the whole thing that was Hendrix – the Band Of Gypsys and the improvisation”. Moore recorded the record with Primal Scream drummer Darrin Mooney, who impressed him during the “Back To The Blues” sessions, and bassist Cass Lewis (Skunk Anansie).

The box set concludes with 2004’s “Power Of The Blues,” after which Moore returned to the blues, befitting the title. Bassist Bob Daisley (Rainbow, Ozzy Osbourne) and Darrin Mooney supported Gary Moore on the album’s ten tracks.

The guitarist (deceased February 2011) is best known for his solo hits “Parisienne Walkways” and “Still Got The Blues,” as well as his membership of Thin Lizzy and Skid Row. Moore’s solo career has spanned over 20 albums. In the course of his solo career, the guitarist not only realized his own long players, but also played live and on albums with names such as George Harrison, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker, Greg Lake, BB King, Albert King and Albert Collins.
