Russian biathlon and cross-country Olympic champion Anfisa Reztsova has died at the age of 58.

Champions-sport news site, Reztsova, who lost consciousness, was rushed to a hospital near Moscow for intensive care on October 15. According to the site, Reztsova’s heart stopped and she died on Thursday.

Reztsova already had a heart attack in March. In addition, according to Championat, Reztsova had recently received several blood transfusions due to low hemoglobin values.

Reztsova is the only athlete to have won Olympic gold in both shooting and cross-country skiing. He celebrated cross-country relay gold in Calgary 1988 and biathlon gold in Albertville 1992 and Lillehammer 1994.

Reztsova’s daughter is Darja Virolainen, who has appeared in the Russian national team but recently switched to the Finnish national team. Darja Virolainen has had Finnish citizenship since 2021. Virolainen has lived in Finland since 2016.
