The runner’s pants fell off in Joensuu – “The officials apparently didn’t see”

Baboloki Thebe got into an awkward situation at the Joensuu GP.

Baboloki Thebe was the pre-race favorite. PDO

At the GP races in Joensuu, we saw a very special case in the 400 meter run. Botswanan Baboloki Thebes showed with his hand even before leaving that everything was not in order. The problem was with the runner’s pants.

– My leotards had fallen apart. They flowed throughout the race. I couldn’t run properly. I’m really disappointed. The stewards apparently didn’t see me raise my hand, Thebe commented after the race.

Thebe was one of the early favorites of the competition. The Botswanan’s record time of 44.02 was by far the best of the records of those participating in the competition. Thebe eventually fought his way to sixth with a time of 47.44. However, sixth place was little consolation for him.

– I am really disappointed. I came here from far away and I didn’t even run properly. I feel better now. I just have to train and focus on the next race.

The Czech Republic Matej Krsek won the competition with a result of 46.04. The best Finn in the competition was Viljami Kaasalainenwho came second in 46.68.
