At the Hackney press conference, the Brit was tempted to name his top tracks from his band.
On September 6th, the Rolling Stones sat down with Jimmy Fallon and chatted at length about their newly announced new album, Hackney Diamonds, out October 20th. They also presented the video for their pre-single “Angry”. But in addition to all the PR talk, London’s Hackney Empire was of course also very much about learning more about Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ron “Ronnie” Wood.
These are Richard’s favorite Rolling Stones songs
One or the other news was surprising – including Richards’ favorite Rolling Stone songs. When asked about it, he actually answered: “Gimme Shelter” and “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”.
Gimme Shelter first appeared on their 1969 album Let It Bleed. The idea for the track is said to have come from Richards, who then went on to work on the track while Jagger was working on the drama film Performance at the time.
Just a year earlier, in 1968, the second of Richard’s favourites, “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” was released and became number one in both Great Britain and Germany. Both tracks are not only popular with Richards, but also with fans and critics.
