AZ will take on Anderlecht in the quarterfinals of the Conference League. The team of coach Pascal Jansen was linked to the Belgian football club during the draw in Nyon (Switzerland).
The Conference League quarter-final matches will be played on Thursday, April 13. The returns are a week later on April 20. AZ first plays against Anderlecht. The return in Alkmaar follows a week later.
During the draw, there was also an immediate draw for the route towards the final of the Conference League. If AZ survives the quarterfinals, it will play the winner of KAA Gent against West Ham United in the semifinals. A meeting with Lech Poznan, FC Basel OGC Nice or Fiorentina awaits in the final.
AZ stunted in the eighth finals by eliminating Lazio. Last week, the Alkmaarders won 2-1 in Rome and that result was also on the scoreboard in Alkmaar afterwards. FC Twente awaits next Sunday in the Eredivisie. The kick-off in Enschede is then at 8 p.m.
