The opposition will focus its attacks not only on corruption but on the debate on feminism, “the ethical and the aesthetic” at the gates of Women’s Day | PP and Vox insist that the left will face “one of its most difficult 8-M” and are preparing to stretch the scandal to the maximum

PP and Vox will extend the ‘Mediator case’ in the coming days in the belief that the scandal could have new ramifications, affect other territories and, above all, assuming that it will have a significant electoral cost for the PSOE. The popular ones have already registered a commission of investigation in the Congress of Deputies, which is difficult to prosper. But the intention is to keep the pressure on the Socialists. The rest of the opposition on the right, from Vox to Ciudadanos, understand that the Chamber (converted into the operating room of the former deputy from the Canary Islands, Juan Bernardo Fuentes, known as Tito Berni) must demand all explanations.

And while the PSOE tries to limit the case to something local to the Canary Islands and its main leaders, also in the Government they insist on the message of “zero tolerance for corruption & rdquor; (remembering that they acted immediately, forcing the deputy to leave his minutes and expelling him from the party), PP and Vox will focus their attacks on the field of feminism at the gates of 8-M.

The right is convinced that the partners of the Government arrive more divided than ever on Women’s Day, above all, because of their inability to agree on a reform in the ‘only yes is yes’ law that restores the range of penalties for the aggressors who commit sexual crimes to the old Penal Code. More than 600 have benefited from a discount.

The PSOE continues with its initiative (practically the same as the PP proposal) and will be debated in Congress next Tuesday, March 7. One day before the day in which feminism has spent several years making a display of historical force throughout Spain, and especially in Madrid. At this time everything seems to indicate that the Socialists will need the votes of the PP for their proposal to be admitted for processing, which will then continue through parliamentary processing. The usual partners of the coalition government, such as ERC and Bildu, remain aligned with Unidas Podemos and the Minister of Equality, Irene Montero, who does not believe that the path is to agree on anything with the PP.

And in this context, in which the partners are very divided on a key issue on the left, to which are added the disagreements over the ‘trans law’ (already published in the BOE), the conduct of the ‘Mediator case’ ‘ which embarrasses the entire government bench, especially the PSOE, which has the ringleader of the plot in its ranks. In PP and Vox they coincide in insisting on “how difficult it will be for the PSOE this 8-M & rdquor; defending the feminist flag “with sexual offenders seeing their sentences reduced and a deputy until a few days ago, who appears in photos with prostitutes and doing corrupt businesses & rdquor ;, they repeat in the two weighty leading parties.

In fact, while the judicial investigation continues, the opposition parties put the accent on the “aesthetic” above even the others. “The image for them is ominous. The PSOE defends abolitionism and it has people with these behaviors from another era, sordid, seedy and unassumable & rdquor ;, they insist.

As this newspaper published, the popular ones will prudently await new revelations, but they assume that the shock could reach other autonomous communities, taking into account that other deputies were in meetings or dinners with the so-called Tito Berni. The socialist spokesman, Patxi López, spoke about that, insisting that “it is one thing to go out to dinner and another to become corrupt & rdquor ;. Even so, the PSOE fears new photographs, about which the mediator himself who gives the case its name has already warned. It must be remembered that most of the investigation is still under summary secrecy.

The opposition considers that the proximity of the appointment of regional and municipal elections complicates the PSOE’s position. As some PP leaders explained, “voters penalize these scandals a lotwhich end up causing “demobilization of yours & rdquor ;.
