Middelkerke has a plan for the Rauschenbergplein, which was recently closed due to the risk of collapse. A 20-storey residential tower would be built in a park of one and a half hectares. In the meantime, the Recht- naar-zee project, the access road from the E40, remains pending with the provincial council.
