The return of Casey Wander: from tender boy K to outrageous militant of Moreno

“Come on! Long live Perón, damn it! I sang the Peronist march, I sang Moreno’s and we’re going to take Moreno to La Rosada. Long live Perón, damn it!” were the enthusiastic and hoarse words that Casey Wander pronounced in front of a cell phone camera and were viralized on the social network Twitter. At a group meeting Principles and valuesthe young Peronist expressed his wish that the former Secretary of Commerce get Rivadavia’s chair.

Almost ten years after that first report on Public TV, the appearance of the justicialist sympathizer is much more adult, physically, compared to the media records of 2014. Times change in politics and in life too. Already past adolescence, Casey Wander is a militant of the most orthodox line of the movement created by Juan Domingo Peron.

“I adore him to Nestor Kirchnerfor all the things he did for Argentines”, Casey Wander said as a child, when being interviewed by the state channel news, during a militancy meeting on the property of the former ESMA. Four years after the death of the former president of Santa Cruz, the infante imposed a fervent discursive defense of Kirchnerism, at just 11 years old, which made him recognized at that time in the media and led him to be received by the then president Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, in the Casa Rosada.

“It was an honor and a great joy. I said that I was a Kirchnerist and Cristina told me, like Néstor: ‘No, a Peronist’. And from that moment on I said Peronist,” Wander recalled in an interview with C5N, a few years ago, adding: “We talked a very warm hour, very interesting. We had a very warm talk. Were Oscar Parrilli and Wado De Pedro and we talked about Peronism, life. Later my mother saw her again, who waited for her downstairs in her apartment, and never again.

But the turns of life and the economic-social situation led him to another path. Right now, Wander’s militancy is within the ranks of Guillermo Moreno. “We thank all the officials of the Economy, including Guillermo Moreno, who is my driver, for this path that began with Néstor Kirchner,” the young man concluded in one of his latest television reports. Creating his own political force in 2020, the former Secretary of Commerce is running for the first time for the position of President of the Nation.

Of course, respecting the convictions of morenísimo, Casey Wander, in other interviews, was very critical of the role played by Alberto Fernandez. “In 2015 we lost the elections. We did not win them in the first round because Alberto Fernández had created a separate list with Massa leading it,” recalled Wander and, regarding the current management in the Executive, he added: “He carries out a policy that perhaps sounds very moderate to us Peronists because we are revolutionaries and we seek the justicialist national revolution, Although we did not reach it in the 12 years of government that we had, we were very close”.
