Argentina may lack bread, but the circus in this faltering December 2023 is guaranteed. The thing is “Big Brother” returned to the small screenthe favorite program of Argentines, as marked last year when it broke all audience records.
Are twenty-two almost anonymous participants (now the networks allow us to review their respective stories), locked in a house for a hundred days, although, if the ratings go as expected, it could last several more weeks. Then, the same as always, daily tests to achieve a budget that allows them to buy enough food for a whole week, and the key, physically and mentally surviving a harmonious, civil and constitutional coexistence. For the winner, this time, there will be 50 million pesosan amount that will inevitably be devalued between now and March 2024, when the competition ends.
Stereotypes
You don’t have to be Augusto Comte to realize that the final casting of “Big Brother” is based on the typical search algorithms, one by one, as if checking all the items of today’s society. Among the 22 participants, it can be seen a gaucho, a police disbelief in Justice for the murder of a colleague, an Argentinian, a homosexual girl whom her parents tried to “recover” with unhealthy treatments (there is talk of electroshock), two boys who are also homosexual, a 65-year-old woman who perceives herself as “liberal and modern” and in conflict with her addicted son, a Cordovan prone to bullying and corrosive humor (it was the first eliminated), a stunt double of short patience nicknamed “Furia”, a patient who overcame breast cancer and is called an “ordinary woman”, a curvy model, an RKT singer (music genre similar to cumbia villera) and daughter of a soccer player who claims to have slept with all the players on the Talleres and Belgrano teams (both teams from Córdoba) and with a world champion (without specifying if it was from 78, 86 or 2022).
A cast that at first glance is very diverse but that aesthetically shows a brutal gap between “enlightened” and “opaque.” In fact, one of the first debates between Ubfal, Brel and Trezeguet was about whether the two groups that were formed, one of young and aesthetic people and another of disintegrated and peripheral ones, were by decision of one or the other. If “Big Brother” intends to be a cut of current society, this corseted and biased exhibition shows the threads from all sides.
With the aim of innovating edition after edition, Santiago del Moro announced new rules. The first and fundamental is the outside. In previous years, some participants had heard neighbors’ voices that revealed some strategies or situations that were happening in the country or also within the house. Let us remember that they are isolated (they do not have their cell phones or Internet access) and their only link with the outside world is through Del Moro at the time of the live broadcast. As of this edition, the screams that may come from outside may be genuine from the people or invented by the production, so they were advised to “not take them seriously.”
However, the most significant and relevant thing is the “final vote”, the possibility given to the eliminated participant to give the first two nomination votes to one of those remaining in the house. Upon hearing the news, Hernan Ontiverothe first eliminated, nominated Joel Ojeda, so he will start the nomination gala with two votes.

The first elimination gala obtained the highest television rating of the day with 13.2 points, with a house convulsed by the farewell of the aforementioned Ontivero by a difference of 52.6% to 47.4% on Juliana “Furia” Scaglione. The profiles of the participants are already outlined, in the house there is a mother (ISabel Denegri) and a father (Lisandro Navarro) who are in charge of shopping and order, some unruly little brothers who try to impose their respective leaderships through pure beauty, and some filler cousins more interested in conquering the love of the moment than in being a decisive part of the game. We will have to wait to see how the different troops move, what the alliances will be and who is affirmed as the common enemy that the cohabitants want to oust and the public to maintain so that the least discreet house in the country is a hotbed of vanity. This is just beginning and promises to make noise.
