The 49th Berlin Marathon made history: Tigis Assefa (26) set the women’s fabulous world record with 2:11 hours.

What an achievement. You become particularly aware of this when you meet the many runners who didn’t make it to the finish. Just like her Ethiopian compatriot, who collapsed exhausted near Nollendorfplatz and didn’t know where she was or how to get back to the hotel. Lost in Berlin. Greg from Australia had to stop at the start due to muscle problems.

People of all ages ran the course of their lives. Some have traveled long distances to achieve this. They were rewarded with great weather and an audience that cheered them on to achieve their best.

It’s a shame that the Last Generation used this event to get attention. The respect goes solely to the marathoners.
