The resounding silence of the Muslim associations

By Gunnar Schupelius

Hatred against Israel and the Jews on the streets of Berlin: No Muslim association raises its voice against it. That’s a deep insight, says Gunnar Schupelius.

Radical Muslims celebrated the massacres in Israel in Neukölln. The entire town turned away in disgust. Politicians condemned the hate demonstrations against Israel.

The Central Association of Muslims in Germany (ZMD) remained silent and is still silent. This is more than astonishing, because ZMD chairman Aiman Mazyek didn’t mince his words. He comments frequently, especially on “anti-Muslim racism” in Germany.

But now that hatred of Jews is being shouted out in Neukölln, Mazyek is silent. And not only that: There was initially no statement about the attack on Israel on Saturday.

The murder gangs were Islamists who were waging a so-called “holy war” against Israel and using their faith as justification for it.

We asked the Central Council of Muslims by phone and email on Sunday at 1:44 p.m. how the silence could be explained, but received no answer. Then a brief message appeared on the Central Council’s website under the title: “On escalation in the Middle East”.

It says: “So that there are no more casualties among the civilian population, all sides must now stop hostilities immediately.” What does that mean? Should Israel end its defense against Hamas’ invasion?

This statement by the Central Council of Muslims is more than naive, it is ignorant, heartless and shameless because it ignores the existential threat to the Jews. Mazyek and his people say not a word about the suffering of the children, women and men abducted, tortured and murdered by Hamas.

Back to Berlin-Neukölln: The scenes that took place there on Saturday were particularly disgusting, but not a new phenomenon. Supporters of those who want to destroy Israel repeatedly take to the streets.

The Central Council of Muslims regularly ignores this, most recently on Easter Monday, when Arabs celebrated the Hamas terrorists on Hermannplatz, who had once again covered the south of Israel with a hail of rockets.

The Central Council is not the only Muslim association in Germany that does not condemn the open hatred of Israel and the Jews, but rather allows it to happen. The Islamic Community of Mili Görüs (IGMG) does not speak out either, nor does the German Muslim Community (DMG) and not a single mosque community in Berlin.

They all ceremoniously opened their doors on October 3rd and are fighting against Islamophobia, but apparently not against anti-Semitism and hatred of Israel.

Agriculture Minister Cem Özdemir (Greens) put it this way on Saturday in the news service

Özdemir, who is himself of Muslim faith, demands that “the naivety in dealing with Islamic associations” must “finally end!” There is nothing to add to that.
